Old Glory Country Fair 2010
February 5, 2010
I was so excited (and a little relieved) to get all the vendor contracts in the mail. Such a huge pile of envelopes! It will be so nice to see all of our vendors again and to meet the new ones.
Now I can concentrate on our food vendors and our special events. It’s a lot of work but it’s so much fun!!

We had such an energizing meeting about the Fair last week! I could almost feel the June sunshine! Then I walked out into the cold and remembered that it is still only February. I know it will go quickly though.
We have lots of surprises in store for you regarding new vendors, different food options and special events!
Stay tuned!!

Old Glory Country Fair 2010

Hello Old Glory Fans!
Happy New Year! I know that the wind is blowing cold and snow is always a possibility but is it ever too soon to start thinking about the Old Glory Country Fair?
My name is Sandi Billings. Although I have known her for much longer, for the past four years, I have had the pleasure and the priviledge of working with Holly Kuhn. She is the mastermind behind Old Glory Antiques Urban Home & Design. I can’t even begin to tell you how much I have learned from her. Can you imagine my surprise when I showed up for work one morning and was asked to run the Old Glory Country Fair? With a brave smile on my face I answered “Yes!”
So take a look at the wonderful pictures from last year’s Fair – the warm sunshine, the green leaves, the smiling faces, the GREAT ANTIQUES! It’s time to mark your calendars for the 2010 Old Glory Country Fair June 18th and 19th at Clement Park in Littleton, Colorado.
And check back here often to see how things are progressing. I’ll keep you posted.
Sandi

The Faces of Old Glory

How time flies when one has a big event approaching!
The 2009 Old Glory Country Fair has come and gone and was, by all counts, a great success. Thank you to all of the wonderful antiques dealers who participated in this event. It was a pleasure to work with such a down-to-earth, hard-working, creative and fun group of people. Here is a look at some of the faces of the 2009 Old Glory Country Fair. (More photos to follow in the coming days!)
8 days!

Historic Downtown Littleton serves as “homebase” for the Old Glory Country Fair. Located just 3 miles east of Clement Park, Downtown Littleton is filled with unique shops and restaurants. We are pleased to have several of the creative, energetic entreprenuers of Littleton participating in the Old Glory Country Fair. We have already introduced you to Genna of Prince Street Dry Goods. Also at the Fair this year will be Amy of Pink Attic Cat, and Comforts of Home located in the antique mall Antiques and Such. And, of course, Old Glory Antiques will be there! Following is a preview of what you will find at Old Glory…just eight more days!
10 Days Until the Old Glory Country Fair

The Old Glory Country Fair offers a wonderful selection of beautiful merchandise. At first the wide array of merchandise may seem overwhelming, so here I am offering a way to help you focus on your shopping by sharing my list of “you-can-never-have too-many” items. Happy shopping!
Empty wooden picture frames…in all shapes, sizes and finishes! Hang a collection on the wall for an unexpected grouping or use them individually to “frame” a special piece…there are so many ways to use empty frames!
Wire baskets…never pass one up! Wire baskets are functional and can be used in every room of the house. The more unusual the shape and size, the better.
Little chairs…add a touch of whimsy to a room by displaying a vintage child’s chair…to hold books, plants, or a special pillow. Or hang a pair on the wall! Scoop them up when you find them…the old ones are getting harder to find.
Big chairs…wooden chairs make great accent pieces in any room. Fill an empty corner with a beautiful old chair…throw a pillow on it to instantly add color and pattern to the room. Don’t pass up that chair with the beautiful patina just because it isn’t sturdy enough to stand up to everyday use…use it to hold a plant or stack books on it.
Old mirrors…vintage mirrors add such charm to a room or an empty hallway. Don’t worry if the mirror itself isn’t in perfect condition. Sometimes the frame around the mirror is the most beautiful and interesting part! Prop a mirror on the mantel, layered with pictures or more mirrors. Lay a mirror on a table and use it as a tray. There are so many fun and unexpected ways to use these vintage pieces.
Benches…low, wooden benches can be found in a variety of sizes and the functions they can perform are just as varied. Place a bench at the back door to sit on while you put on your shoes, and to catch bags and backpacks as your family comes and goes. A long bench in the entryway will serve the same function. A short, tall bench can serve as an end table, while a wider, longer bench can become a coffee table. A bench loaded with flower pots can adorn the front porch, the patio, or the kitchen. In addition to being functional, these pieces add interest to a room. Don’t hesitate to pick up that bench just because you don’t know exactly where you will put it…there is always room for one more bench!
Best of the Best

The wonderful antiques dealers who gather at the Old Glory Country Fair shop all year long for just the right pieces to share with their customers at this show. It is the wide selection of quality and truly unique, exceptional merchandise that makes the Old Glory Country Fair such an outstanding event. The dealers arrive Thursday morning, trucks loaded with treasures, and begin the task of turning an ordinary city park into a very extraordinary place. When shoppers arrive on Friday morning they find booth after booth of beautifully displayed merchandise, each booth with its own unique personality, each booth just as beautiful as the next.
Each year at the Fair two awards are given. One booth is selected as “Best in Show,” and an award is given for the most “Show-Stopping Piece.” Last year the Best in Show was awarded to the French Flat of Denver (thefrenchflat.com). Cathy will be back this year with more of her beautiful garden and French antiques. Don’t miss her booth! Sonia of Pine Needle Creek Antiques in Pine had the show-stopper last year…a beautiful antique iron bed. Be sure and visit Sonia’s booth to discover what mouth-watering pieces she has for us this year!
